Madeira Aquarium at Porto Moniz Video

The Madeira Aquarium, or Aquário da Madeira, is situated at Porto Moniz on the north west tip of Madeira.

Located in the totally renovated and refurbished São João Baptista Fort on the coast just next to the helipad, it is easy to find.

This short video brings to life the delights of the 12 themed display tanks that contain many local species that inhabit the sea around the archipelago. Sharks, stingrays, Madeiran Rays, octopuses, starfish and groupers are are here.

Suddenly, you realise the importance of the islands to the local marine life.

If the weather is raining, or if you have children in need of some alternative entertainment, then the Madeira Aquarium is the ideal attraction to visit.
