Lido to Funchal City Centre Walk Video

This video gives you a quick look at the route you follow if you want to walk from the Hotel District of Funchal, situated near to the Lido, to the City Centre.

The entire walk will take you a leisurely 40 minutes or so.

Along the way, the video stops at a number of points to indicate features of interest.

The Reid's Palace Hotel is on the route. Famous for the illustrious guests who have stayed at here, the list includes, Sir Winston Churchill, Sir George Bernard Shaw and Gregory Peck.

The Reid's Palace hotel is also a favourite with honeymooning couples.

Just around the corner from Reid's is the Quinta Magnolia Gardens. Formerly owned by the British Country Club, these gardens are now freely open to all.

Most tourists only get a glimpse of the Quinta Magnolia Gardens as they cross the bridge on the Avenida do Infante. Often, we see holidaymakers peering down over the bridge wondering how to get down to the dirt trail that winds its way amongst the flora at the bottom of the gardens.

A little further on our walk is Santa Catarina Park. Here, you can get some lovely views across Funchal Bay and it's Marina.

As you leave Santa Catarina Park by the lower exit, you reach Funchal city centre itself.

Just had a look at your videos they are good. we love Madeira and in 2009 we where there for about 6 months altogether, we are hoping to come back soon and buy a house there, Can't wait.
We also found the time share people a big pain.
