Walking the Balcões Levada in Madeira Video

This video gives a 5 minute introduction to the levada walk from Ribeiro Frio to the Balcões viewpoint. It takes you along the path to the belvedere and then shows you some of the panoramic views to be seen from that elevated outcrop.

The levada route from Ribeiro Frio to the Balcões and back again has to be one of the easiest and most rewarding walks in Madeira. When you reach the Balcões (Balcony) you will be treated to some spectacular, panoramic views that are simply breathtaking.

Whilst you gaze down on the Metade Valley and the Fajã da Nogueira power station, or look across to the north coast of Madeira and the Atlantic Ocean, there is sure to be a chaffinch or two just waiting for you to drop a titbit.

Meanwhile, on the walk back to Ribeiro Frio, you can stop at the Bar Flor da Selva and sample a choice drink or snack of your own.
